DUTY. DUTY. DUTY: THE LEGACY OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II

DUTY. DUTY. DUTY: THE LEGACY OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II

Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday, 8th September 2022. Throughout her lifetime, she remained faithful and devoted to her duty. Her death marks the end of an era and she will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.

I did not know, when I wrote last week's article on obedience, that within a week Queen Elizabeth would be dead. I have mentioned to you before that I am a monarchist and I greatly admired the late Queen. In my opinion, she was an excellent example of obedience to one's God-given duty.

Did you know that the concept of monarchy is a very biblical concept? It is!

  • God is a King. Do you remember what He said to Samuel the Prophet in I Samuel 8:7?
  • Christ is the 'king of kings'. This is declared in Revelation 19:16.
  • God revealed His intention to anoint David as the king of Israel in I Samuel 16:1.
  • And all true believers belong to God's royal priesthood according to 1 Peter 2:9!

1 SAMUEL 8:7 (KJV)
7 And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

REVELATION 19:16 (KJV)
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

1 SAMUEL 16:1 (KJV)
1 And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

1 PETER 2:9 (KJV)
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

OBEDIENCE AND DUTY ARE INTERTWINED
While most of us will never be monarchs, nevertheless, we all have the same responsibility to be obedient to whatever duty God has given us.

And by the way, performing your duty is not always easy! To accomplish your duty successfully, you must be willing to put aside your own preferences and priorities. Ask yourself-

  • What is my duty as a believer?
  • And, even more specifically, what is my duty as a believer according to the APOSTOLIC SCRIPTURES?

If you have not watched the Netflix series 'The Crown', I urge you to do so! If you are a history buff, this show will help you to appreciate just how obedient Queen Elizabeth was to her duty. This drama series highlights the personal and emotional costs that the Queen paid over her lifetime in her commitment to obedience to duty.

What has God asked you to do? Are you being obedient to His command?

Obeying God's call or command may not always make sense to you! And it may not make any sense to your close family and friends but trust me, your blessing is hidden inside of your obedience to His duty!!!

When you think about Ruth, Abraham and the two Josephs (i.e. Jacob's favourite son in Egypt and the Virgin Mary's husband), all of these biblical characters share one trait in common- their obedience to their God-given duty! Can you think of any other examples of obedience to duty in the Bible?

Well done your Majesty- you were a good and faithful servant. Rest In Peace.

MATTHEW 25:23 (KJV)

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

HARVEST TIME Prophecies’ is the blog post site of TNG Academy. Our blog post site gets its name from Matthew 13:30- the separation of wheat and tares that occurs at harvest time (i.e. the endtimes). Remember, the ‘wheat’ symbolises the things of God and the ‘tares’ symbolise the things of the devil.

The purpose of this blog is threefold.

1. Some of the posts are written to help the reader develop a deeper understanding of the theology of Christ’s core message- i.e. the ‘gospel of the kingdom’.

2. Some of the posts are written for the reader’s personal discipleship journey. We need to understand what God expects from us. After all, all believers should be on a journey of ‘becoming’ our best selves, capable of impacting and changing the world!

3. Finally, some of the posts are written to answer this question:

What would our faith look like today IF we had fully embraced Christ’s doctrines, as recorded by His Apostles, and rejected the doctrines of Paul and the other false apostles?

If we are sincere about our desire to restore Christianity to its roots, i.e. a return to Christ’s original message, then we must start by admitting that ‘while men slept’ (Matthew 13:25) the enemy planted false teachings (tares) into the New Testament!
